Reality is a 2012 Spanish drama film directed by Mateo Gil. The film stars Javier Gutiérrez, Raúl Arévalo, Antonio de la Torre, and Adriana Ugarte. The film tells the story of a man who wins a reality television show and must deal with the consequences of his newfound fame. The film begins with Adrián Doria (Javier Gutiérrez), a successful businessman, waking up in a hotel room with the body of his lover, Laura (Marta Etura), next to him. He is arrested for her murder and his defense team, led by Félix Leiva (Antonio de la Torre), tries to prove his innocence. The film then cuts back to the events leading up to Laura's death. Adrián is a successful businessman who is married to Inés (Adriana Ugarte), a doctor. He is also having an affair with Laura, a young woman who works for him. Adrián and Laura decide to run away together, but Adrián has second thoughts and cancels their plans. Laura is furious and confronts Adrián, but he refuses to listen to her. Later, Adrián and Laura meet again at a hotel. They argue and Adrián pushes Laura away. Laura falls and hits her head on the floor, killing her. Adrián panics and tries to cover up the crime. He calls Félix, who helps him to dispose of the body. The film then returns to the present day. Adrián's defense team tries to prove that he is innocent, but the evidence against him is overwhelming. Adrián is found guilty of murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Reality is a suspenseful and thought-provoking film that explores the dark side of reality television.
