Raw Edge is a 1981 American action film directed by Richard Brooks and starring Burt Reynolds, Lee Marvin, and Eddie Albert. The film is about a group of mercenaries who are hired to protect a shipment of diamonds from a group of rebels in Africa. The film begins with a group of mercenaries led by Colonel Nick Alexander (Burt Reynolds) being hired by a wealthy businessman named Charles Ransome (Eddie Albert) to protect a shipment of diamonds from a group of rebels in Africa. The mercenaries are led by Alexander, who is a former Green Beret and Vietnam veteran. The other mercenaries include Alexander's friend and former comrade-in-arms, Major Alan Caldwell (Lee Marvin), as well as a group of other experienced soldiers. The mercenaries arrive in Africa and meet with Ransome, who tells them that the diamonds are being transported by a plane that is scheduled to land at a remote airstrip. The mercenaries set up a base camp near the airstrip and wait for the plane to arrive. The plane arrives and the mercenaries load the diamonds onto a truck. However, the rebels ambush the truck and the mercenaries are forced to fight their way back to the base camp. The mercenaries are outnumbered and outgunned, but they manage to defeat the rebels and escape with the diamonds. The mercenaries return to Ransome and give him the diamonds. Ransome pays the mercenaries and then leaves. The mercenaries celebrate their victory and then go their separate ways.
