Daisy Kenyon (Joan Crawford) is a successful New York City businesswoman who is involved in a love triangle with two men: her married lover, attorney Dan O'Mara (Henry Fonda), and her former lover, newspaperman Peter Dunlap (Dana Andrews). Daisy and Dan have been having an affair for several years, but their relationship is strained by Dan's reluctance to leave his wife. Daisy is also attracted to Peter, who is recently divorced and eager to start a new relationship. When Dan's wife dies in a car accident, he and Daisy decide to get married. However, Peter is still in love with Daisy and tries to convince her to leave Dan. Daisy is torn between her two lovers, but ultimately decides to stay with Dan. The film ends with Daisy and Dan on their honeymoon in Europe. Peter follows them and tries to win Daisy back, but she refuses. Daisy and Dan return to New York City, where they begin their new life together.
