The show starred Nell Carter as Nell Harper, a housekeeper who takes care of three children after their mother dies. The children are Michael (Todd Bridges), a high school student; Stephanie (Lara Jill Miller), a middle school student; and Julie (Charlotte Rae), a kindergarten student.
